EDM, Dance, Trance and House Dj for Hire, I didn’t expect for one minute I would be booking DJ ing events so fast for worldwide events.
As you know, I have been a Dance, Trance and House DJ for what is essentially over half my life, but hiring a Electronic Dance DJ seems to be a bit of an enigma. I am not aware of a shortage! Since i threw it out there that i would be available for select events, i have had all manner of inquiries from people getting married to people organizing Dance Music Festivals Across the globe. And as a single dad organizing the logistics of such opportunities to perform in big arenas half way round the world is a tough conundrum to figure out. But hey Keep it coming. I love to please a crowd and don’t recall a time where i haven’t!
It would seem that after listening to some of my work both in the public domain and some private work, that over the other side of the Atlantic they like the mix of Retro British and Euro trance, and global dance music with a large helping of Americas biggest EDM hits thrown in and the added extra of remixing and intro writing i’ve been doing. If i am open and honest my best work is always when i am there with a captivated audience ensnared by the music, This engagement with the audience just pushes me right up there with them, nothing makes me happier than to tacke a few thousand people on a musical journey, up down and back up again.
I know there are other DJ s performing week in week out with agents and management and PR working for them, I just have ME! No small feat for an already overworked dad. Doing my own pr off my own back and getting results….GREAT. But at what point does the DJ say OK I need to ferry out some of this PR and Social networking and other components that get you out there.
I want to blog more, I am so in the groove of writing and producing right now and i am starting to get excited about some of the tracks ive been putting together, especially a Frank Sinatra EDM electro version of feeling good. I don’t think that has been done as a dance track but my voice is the dogs bollox for Frank so that was easy. Doing justice to such a iconic and classic ratpack song in the style of House was a challenge but its coming together really sweetly and when i put it out i hope people dont comment….YOU KILLED IT. Well if you love Dance music i think you will like the end result.
Having some really rather financially attractive DJ gig offers has shifted my focus to mixing again. Having potentially landed 4 sweet gigs in the last 2 weeks if i can add to that tally it could quickly become a very lucrative career. I Know i’m on a tight schedule and i have to polish off about 4-5 hours of in the mix Music. But i am going from panic to confident to panic again as i fathom the logistics and the work a DJ has to put in to give a top performance. Its not about slapping vinyl on a Technics 1210 anymore and skillfully blending songs, its about doing something different with samples riffs loops and grooves. And for the rewards involved it really is something i have to get right…….I told Eva, If dad gets this right we are set my baby! She still continues to stop me from working but hey She is my release and my best bud so she is still number 1 priority and she has no idea of the value of money and what her daddy is doing. And she writes the odd melody in the car when i turn the music off and listen to her sing out original dance lyrics and melodies, for 3 and a half she sure has a grip on what lyrics are right and produces some great ideas and melodies for me to play with. Pure Genius!
